If you rewrite the story, you can rewire the people.
The eerie example given was how communism took over Romania (at least, I think it was Romania? It’s been a little while since I listened to the podcast). The communist party didn’t take over the government right away. First they subtly changed the history books, implying that Romania had been traveling along a journey that culminated in communist ideals. As they shaped the minds of the people, the communist party gained strength, until it finally took power.
Clearly, the stories we tell have a lot of power.
